Unaware

(Disclaimer: this is not inspired by anyone I know, it's just writer's license)

He looks
Hou don’t see
He stares
You don’t feel
He asks
You don’t care
You’re so
Unaware

I thought you would notice
His trembling hands
I thought you would know this
He’s only a man
Caught in a trap
That you absently set
Caught up in words
That you absently said

But you don’t see

Cuz you’re
Searching for your
Prince Charming
Searching for your
One-time love

While you’re
Searching for love
You’re harming
The one who wants to be
You’re one-time love

He gives
You don’t grant
Your whim’s
His demand
His hopes
You destroy
Unknowing
Your toy

I bet you would notice
If only you looked
His eyes so betraying
He’s totally hooked
Trapped by the beauty
You don’t seem to see
Trapped by the person
You’re hoping to be

But you don’t see

Cuz you're
Waiting for knights
In armour
Waiting for an orchestra

While you're
Waiting for life
You're missing
The thing that could have been
The real deal

I Confess

I confess

It’s turned around
And now it’s me
Who’s staying out
Till half past three
My make-up’s smudged
My feet are bare
You stayed up waiting
I don’t care

That cigarette taste
Spit down the drain
My throat is sore
From all the strain
I leave my phone
Where you might look
You’ll see new names
In the address book

I’m failing, crashing
Quit cutting me such slack
I’m railing, smashing
Trying to get you back
For all the times you put me through the pain
Of wondering if you’re coming home again

I confess:
I made this mess

Why not ask
Who brought me home
Why not ask if
I danced alone
My tab was paid
Though not by me
And no one gives
A drink for free

I leave a trail
Of whiskey air
A musky scent
Still in my hair
A broken heart
A broken soul
Can all these shards
Be still made whole?

I’m dying, trying
To justify my pain
I’m crying, denying
My love for you again
No matter how I try to suffocate
This love for you I cannot desecrate

I confess:
I made this mess
